Superman

The following is an email I received verbatim, September 2009.

“Wondering if you are booked on December 12?  I need a Superman and I think you’d be great for it.  Below is the costume – although you come with your own muscles, so does the suit ;-)   He comes with a latex wig, but we would like to use your hair because the wig is just freaking ridiculous.”

Yes, the wig is ridiculous… only the wig.

Performing at Hollywood’s Magic Castle

If you’ve never been to the Magic Castle in Hollywood, I suggest you check it out!  Very cool place.. rich in history, mystique, and charm.  I’m still not quite sure how I weaseled my way into “The Palace of Mystery” show as a juggler, but I had a fantastic time!  A few highlights…

“Being an Effective Corporate Emcee” by Jeff Civillico

Corporate emcee s have the easiest jobs in the world, right?  Think again. Being an effective corporate emcee requires a distinct skill set. Think about it…as the corporate emcee, you set the tone for the entire event. You have to be able to cut or expand your planned material on the fly, often based on circumstances you have no control over, such as a last minute agenda change or technical problems. All in all, it’s a stressful role, and you have to pull it off with ease.Corporate emcee

Unfortunately, many people believe that anyone can emcee an event – that the funny guy at the office can handle the role or that any entertainer can jump in and do it. Such a mindset does not give the role of corporate emcee the respect it deserves. No wonder so many corporate emcees do an average job at best.

When it comes to effectively being a corporate emcee you need to do your homework. You can’t be so confident in your regular material that you blow off the corporate emcee role as “easy” or “a cake walk.” Being a corporate emcee really is a big deal, and you need to approach the role as such.

The following guidelines will help you become a corporate emcee at any event so you appear professional, confident, and in control of the agenda.

Corporate Entertainment Testimonial- Auntie Anne’s

“Auntie Anne’s, Inc hired Jeff Civillico to perform at our 2009 International Convention. It was great to work with Jeff throughout the process from start to finish, and most importantly, Jeff delivered when the time came.

Prior to our function, Jeff took the time to meet with our event coordinators to learn more about our goals for the convention and our company.

Jeff was a delightful addition to the program line-up and our guests (participatory and onlookers alike), will remember this part of the program with a smile!

Sincerely,”

Beth A. Monaghan
Chief Administrative Officer

“Jeff adapted his program on-the-fly to adjust to last-minute schedule changes that were made on our end. Even though his performance time was reduced, Jeff knew exactly which parts of his program to hit in order to get the biggest laughs out of our audience. By the time our first presenter was on stage, Jeff had our group warmed up and ready for the night’s festivities!”

- Ryan Olah
Event Production Coordinator

“Jeff did a great job of engaging the crowd and setting the stage for an evening of fun. I was impressed that he took the time to research our brand and incorporate some of our core messaging into his act. This subtle nod to our brand personality was appreciated by the audience as well. I have to admit that I was nervous watching him juggle a blowing ball and sword…but I couldn’t stop watching!”

- Melissa Reber
Creative Director

V: The Ultimate Variety Show

I had the pleasure of filling in one night last week in “V: The Ultimate Variety Show” in Las Vegas.  This was a particularly exciting moment for me.  I remember seeing this show many years back when I had just started performing professionally.  It was a very inspirational night for me.  I recognized one of the acts, Russ Merlin, from that show several years ago- he was still in the cast of V.  It was quite surreal to tell him how he had inspired me and to share the stage with him that night.

Military Shows in Germany

For years I had heard about what a rich, rewarding experience it is to perform for the military and their families.  Now that I am back from my first military tour in Germany, I could not agree more.

Along with doing 4 shows at 4 different posts, I was able to spend time on and off base with soldiers and staff, getting a glimpse of military life and the operations of a military base.  I drank German beers, ate schnitzel, and saw many small towns and a lot of beautiful countryside.  I was even give my own driver / translator / bodyguard / roadie / soundman / cool German dude with very German name, Klaus Heinbuch (pictured last).

College Event Entertainment Testimonial- Georgetown University

“I am very pleased to offer this note of support for Jeff Civillico. While at Georgetown
University, Jeff was a very dedicated and talented entertainer. He was very well respected by
Georgetown students, faculty and staff alike. Jeff gives so much energy to everything he does,
but I believe it is his compassion and caring for people that make his entertainment effort a
special one. He genuinely cares and wants you to have a good experience.

Jeff knows what it means to be a HOYA and to be one of those fortunate to receive a
Georgetown education. I am convinced that Jeff will never forget those roots nor will he strive
for anything less than being a person who lives for and gives to others.

I would be pleased to see Jeff come back to the Hilltop and perform for our community. I know
he would be quite well received!

Sincerely,”

Ronald J. Lignelli
Administrative Director
Dept of Performing Arts
Georgetown University
