College Entertainment Testimonial- Virginia Wesleyan College

Dear Jeff,

On behalf of the Wesleyan Activities Council (WAC) at Virginia Wesleyan College, I would like to sincerely thank you for putting on an amazing show! You truly are a top-notch artist who will do anything to please the audience big or small, and you really know how to work the crowd. Even though some of the programming board saw you perform at NACA, you made the show even more entertaining and interactive. From the start of the show you had the students laughing.

I appreciate your hard work for the show and working around the college’s busy schedule due to the NCAA Basketball Tournament. You were a trooper and completely understanding, and that is a college administrator’s dream when it comes to performers.

It was a pleasure working with you for the show. We hope to have you back for our Homecoming Week events in the Fall as we promised.

Sincerely,

Jennifer Mitchell
Director of Student Activities, Greek Life, and Commuters

Georgetown University Career Spotlight

I am currently featured on Georgetown University’s website under their “Alumni Career Spotlight” section.  Here is an excerpt.  Read the whole interview.

What is the best career advice you have received?

Darren LaCroix, professional speaker and president of Humor 411, told me, “Jeff, when people call you stupid, keep going—you’re almost at lucky.”Over the years, a lot of people have taken shots at me for pursuing a less-than-traditional career path after graduating from Georgetown. “When are you going to grow up?” “Don’t you feel like you’re wasting your college education?” “What do your parents think of your job?”  Now, I get a lot of comments like, “you’re so lucky to be able to make a living doing what you love.” There was a very long time, an insane amount of work, and a bunch of unprofitable years between stupid and lucky.

What would you recommend to someone interested in working in your field?

Distance yourself from the reaction you get on stage—both the good and the bad. Reveling in the good reactions will cause complacency, and believing the bad will cause depression. As an entertainer, you are the brand. When you have a bad show (and you will), you have to deal with the fact that people did not like you—not the widget you make, but you. That hurts. Learn from it, but do not dwell on it. Move on.

Along those lines, judge your professional development against yourself, not your peers. With entertainment, just like any other industry, it’s easy to look left and right and see people who are much further along than you. Again, when you are the brand, professional jealousy can very easily slide into personal depression. Keep your forward momentum going strong from what you can actually control—you and your career.

$7000+ Raised for the Maureen Eberle Scholarship Fund!

Special thanks to all of my Philly area fans who came out on April 30th to help us raise money for the Maureen Eberle Scholarship Fund at Monsignor Bonner Archbishop Prendergast High School.  In addition to a massive family group, I had friends there from high school, college, Disney Cruise Line, the Philadelphia Juggling Club… it was fantastic!  We pulled in over $7000 that night.  This was a very special event for me, getting to perform in my hometown to support a family cause.

“Our audience loved every minute of your show with Tim Gabrielson.  It is a pleasure to present a show that appeals to both adults and children and entertains all equally.“  Read the whole letter.

- Harry Dietzler, Executive and Artistic Director

Thanks to my good friend Tim Gabrielson for donating his time, and for snapping from backstage arguably the best live shot of my show ever taken…

College Entertainment Testimonial- McKendree University

Dear Jeff,

On behalf of the McKendree University Campus Activities Board, I wanted to thank you for coming to McKendree University for our annual McKendree Idol event. McKendree Idol is a fundraiser for Susan G. Koman race for the cure. We needed someone to hype up the crowd and have them donate money for the cause.  When our staff saw you at NACA, they came home and immediately wanted to book you for Idol.

The audience, participants, judges and the staff all really enjoyed your show. We liked how different it was, and how the audience was able to laugh and have a good time. Your emcee skills, comedy, and juggling were awesome.  One of our students literally wanted to jump out of the spot light booth and come be with you on stage. We were all amazed and wanted you to keep performing.

It was a pleasure getting to work with you for McKendree Idol. I hope we you can come back to McKendree University in the future.

Best Regards,

Erin Totten

Corporate Entertainment Testimonial- Upper Darby Performing Arts Center

Dear Jeff,

This is just a short “Thank You” for an amazing performace on April 30 at The Upper Darby Performing Arts Center. Our audience loved every minute of your show with Tim Gabrielson. Both of you had tons of energy and good, clean fun that involved many of the audience and had everyone laughing and having a great time.

It is a pleasure to present a show that appeals to both adults and children and entertains all equally. You and Tim filled that bill perfectly and created a very special evening of Magic and Comedy in Action!

Hope to have you back soon!

Best Wishes,

Harry Dietzler
Executive and Artistic Director
