I’ve decided to create a 3-month internship program for two Georgetown University students interested in coming to Las Vegas for the summer to work hands-on in the live entertainment industry.  I wish that something like this had existed several years ago when I was at Georgetown, so I think it’s only right to create the opportunity for currents students now.  I want to give back to the institution that has given so much to me.

Duties will be a mix of front-line tickets sales and distribution, and backend marketing / promoting.

The candidate is expected to be at least 21 years of age by the start of the internship on May 21, 2012.

Interns will be expected to work 40 hrs a week, spread over a 6-day show schedule.  Rough schedule (subject to change) will be 2 flexible hours of business work during the day, 4 set hours/night to work Jeff’s show from 5-9PM.

Housing is provided, and interns will be given a stipend for other living expenses.

Purpose – The purpose of this internship is to provide an opportunity otherwise unavailable to Georgetown students interested in the business of live entertainment.  The ideal candidate is a student who is interested in exploring how many different facets of the live entertainment industry– event planning, show marketing, ticket distribution, marketing, branding, promoting, etc.

Duties and responsibilities will range across a broad spectrum, including:

-Ticket sales

-Ticket distribution

-Show setup / breakdown

-Merchandise sales

-Show promoting – Ticket brokers on the Strip, locations off-Strip

-Basic technical work – sound and lights

-Social media marketing

-Video work – filming / editing / posting

-Administration work – building database
